Why do toddlers love using computers?
One of the reasons is because computer graphics are usually an attraction for children. There is something about the graphics of a computer that stimulates toddlers. Whenever they come across images and pictures that are colourful and have wonderful graphics, they tend to move towards it. Toddler games are usually designed to have colourful images and graphics which attract children.
Another reason why toddlers love using computers is because their parents and/or siblings do so. At an early stage, children learn a lot by observation. This is why you may come across children emulating their siblings or parents in the way they use their computers. You will find that many modern-day toddlers can easily adapt to the use of a computer at an early point in their lives. It is not surprising to find a 3-year old toddler knows how to operate a computer better than some old people.
As the toddlers get more exposed to the computer, they will begin to look for toddler games that they can play. As much as it is good for the children to have fun, there are some guidelines and regulations that parents should put into place so that their toddlers don't become addicted to the toddler games.
- Schedule time for playing toddler games - You should clearly spell out specific times when you child can play games. You should make sure that your child doesn't have easy access to the internet. Since they learn a lot by observation, make sure that they are not around when you are connecting to the internet. Strict time limits should be put in place when they can have access to the internet to play the games. It is recommended that the most amount of time you can give your toddler to access toddler games is 2 hours.
- Have someone to watch over them - If you can't be with your child while he is playing the games, you should get a responsible adult to be with them. Always make sure there is someone to keep watch over their activities. The internet is not 100% and you child can be exposed to certain things on the internet that may have a negative effect on your child. It is also good to have someone with them so that when they are playing toddler games, the person can be able to explain some instructions that they may not be able to understand.
