Where to Get Savage Leather - Top Farming Spots

Savage Leather is the top tier leather from the Cataclysm expansion for the game World of Warcraft. Cataclysm is the third and latest expansion to date. Mists of Pandaria will be coming out later this year for World of Warcraft.

Savage Leather is important because it is used in high level crafting professions. The best gear in the game can be made from this leather. This causes a high demand and players oftentimes farm it either for themselves or to sell on the auction house for gold.

There are two great ways that players can farm Savage Leather. The first way is to find a location where it can be AoE (Area of Effect) farmed. Area of Effect means that a player will gather 3 or more enemies at a time and then use spells or combat skills that hit all of these enemies at one time so that they all die around virtually the same time without very much increased effort or demand from the player, besides trying to stay alive while fighting.

The Best AoE Spot

The best place to AoE farm for savage leather is in Deepholm at the Quartzite basin which is located at approximately 45,58. At this location there are Rockslice Flayers that can be pulled in groups of up to 5. This will allow a player to obtain a lot of leather in a very short period of time.

In order for a player to be capable of AoE farming they must have a class and/or talent spec, preferably both, that accommodate AoE farming. The key components to this method of play is survivability and area damage. Paladins and Mages have been traditionally known to be the best AoE classes but with recent patches and this expansion, all classes are capable of doing AoE, and doing AoE well. Just make sure your character is in the right talent spec for it with the right gear.

The Best Single Pull Spot

The other method of farming savage leather is through single pulls or fighting on enemy at a time. The beauty of this is there is a location in game where not much fighting is required.

In Deepholm at the Pale Roost, giants will throw boulders at flying drakes which will then drop to the ground stunned and at less than half life. Any player can walk up to them and kill them without much of a fighting. They will die fast and be both lootable and skinnable. This is currently called by many, the top spot in the game to farm Savage Leather.

There are other locations as well that are good but above are the best two spots for the preferred method of farming, whether it's AoE or Single Pull.

Maps of these locations with more detailed instructions can be found in this Where to Farm Savage Leather Guide, which covers the top 5 single pull locations in detail.

Alternatively, maps and detailed instructions for the AoE portion can be found in this AoE Leather Farming Guide.
