Cataclysm WoW Dungeons - Tanking Tips

Being the tank in a raid or heroic group is quite a heavy burden. If you drop your guard for one second, if you make the slightest mistake, the whole group may wipe. That's why you should be prepared for anything, at all times. Therefore, here are a few tanking tips for the Cataclysm WoW dungeons.

1. All tanks have at least one spell that can interrupt spellcasting. Although interrupting mobs isn't the tank's job, sometimes the DPS players in your group just slack at interrupting and this might lead the group to a total wipe. Paladins have Rebuke, DKs have Mind Freeze, Druids have Skull Bash and Warriors have Pummel. Depending what class you play, you must have that spell in your main quick bar, just in case, no matter in which of the WoW dungeons you are. Stun effects also interrupt spell casting. Although most bosses can't be stunned, some can. So, have your stun close at hand as well.

2. One of the trickiest bosses in the Cataclysm WoW dungeons is Echo of Jaina within the End Time. Not that she's a difficult boss, her mechanics are pretty obvious. But most tanks rush in to pull her once someone gathers all 16 crystals and she spawns. If there still is at least one pack of mobs near her spawn point, she will Blink in that pack of mobs triggering them. This usually leads to a wipe. So, if you're a tank, don't be slacking and pull the two groups of mobs near Jaina's spawn point. Take note that some of the players in the group may whine about it, telling you to skip them. Don't pay any attention to them. A tank always plays it safe.

3. Zul'Aman is one of the WoW dungeons that many players run, to obtain the super cool Amani Battle Bear mount. However, this requires the group to defeat all the bosses up to Halazzi within 25 minutes. You start with 15 minutes, but gain an extra 5 minutes for each boss you defeat. It's not quite an easy job, and as a tank you must play your part with quite a bit of finesse. However, even if your tank is well-equipped and you know the instance pretty well, it's important to keep an eye on your healer. If you that the healer can't keep up with the rush, always ask someone to crowd control a target, for things to go smoother. If you don't wipe at any of the bosses, you should have no problem in reaching Halazzi and defeating him before time is up. Also, popping up a Flask of Steelskin and a tanking food isn't a bad idea, to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Now, there's much more to tell about WoW dungeons, when it comes to tanking. However, if you want to tank, or play any other role as a pro, it's best to learn from the pros.
